Our Raglan honey comes from a single apiary in the fields below the castle — hives that never move, and bees that have never tasted sugar water. What they make in a summer, we jar. When it’s gone, it’s gone until next year.
One apiary, never moved. Everything in the jar was gathered within a mile or two of this pin.
Raglan’s bees work clover, bramble and the hedgerow blossom that lines these lanes. It sets soft and pale, with a clean meadow sweetness — the taste of one particular patch of Monmouthshire, and no other.
We keep only local bees, checked by hand through the season. No trucking hives to a crop, no blending batches to hit a flavour. Each frame is capped when the bees decide it’s ready, not when we are.
Extracted cold and jarred unfiltered, so the pollen and the character stay in. That faint cloudiness is the point.
You can taste the field in it. It’s ruined supermarket honey for me.
